Blogg for Jan..

Hi how is everyone doing,

Well we should get started right. Throughout centuries, people have been sending each other messages and letting people what is going on in life. Many years ago. Not 20 or 30 years ago but, thousands of years ago people have been making any type of image to send a message. Even way before writting began ther has been images. I look as writting as a form of art and image. The reason behind this is because i look as writing as an evolution of images. Humans came to a agreement that images where much harder to form. Even harder before, humans had to write in hard tabets paper was not invented yet. They decided to form another way to create an image to form an image. However, the tradition is still not dead. It still keeps going on. People still use images to show out a message.

This image really hook me too it. In other words it really caught my attention. It fish me out of the lake. This picture is really interesting. There is so much to talk about it. For example, in my sixth period class the whole class discuss this image as a group and we all put our ideas to what we beleave this image representd. What do you think this image represent. Well first let me tell you when this image wa printed. This image was printed about three years ago. Many of you know we are in a crisis of two wars. How can you relate this image to what is going around you in your life? Well, the way i can relate this image is that the guy in the left is an iraqi and he is surrendering from a marine. The marine is the male in th left.Look closely at the weaponds what do you notice about them? One of them looks surrendering the other in a security form. What can the weaponds tell you/ What i understood from it was that one is dminating the other. The reason that i personally beleave that the soldiers are males is because most soldiers are males. What is really intersting is the lines above them. What can they possively mean? Take 30 seconds and think about it...................................................................................... Well now compare your ideas to what i think. The lines above it represent the way they are orgnanize.

Let me tell you what the author was actually trying to tell the reader.Well in a article by Robert DiYanni it says" The minds of this soldier figures, like the worlds they inhabit, are dramatically different. And we might thus conclude that there does not appearto be much dialogue between them, that any kind of understanding is impossible." This states that these people in war fight with out even being able to understand each tohere because they both have different form of thinking and language. Is concluded that the line above represent thei way of thinking.

Hugo,

Why do you think that people send each other pictures to tell someone something? It is true; there are some people that send pictures like hearts or something to indicate the way that they are feeling. I am not one of those people but I do know people who have done that and are still doing it right now. Why do you see writing as an evolution of images? What makes you think this way?

What is so interesting about this image? It is funny how you tried to put figurative language into your blog but good work. What can you tell us from the lines above the soldiers. In my group, we came to an agreement that the lines represents order and how the Iraqi just does thing without having a plan and the marine is prepared and knows what he is doing. Another thing that we said was that it seems that the Iraqi is salvage and the marine is more prepared and has specific orders. But anyway, what did your group say?

Hi Hugo,
Nice opening. I agree with your statement. Art has been a source of communication throughout the years and helped people get to where they are now.

The image you chose was strong and make readers into critical thinkers. So kudos for you!

I recommend images from Fernando Botero. More specifically, the Abu Ghraib collection. Seriously Hugo, its a real eye opener. The background is that a couple years back, soldiers serving in the army began abusing the Iraqi prisoners and forced the to take erotic postures and EVEN TOOK PICTURES. Which was incredibly stupid because they got caught and court marshaled. People began thinking that what the soldiers did was justified by the fact that they were the enemy. Fernando's point of view is self explanatory.
Well, anyways, look into it.
Good job this month!

Man. Images are so subjective sometimes aren't they. What one people sees in an image can be completely different to what someone else sees. For example in this picture it could be said that the bottom are the two enemies in a war but what about the lines. Since there is no clear evidence of twhat they mean many will have their own subjective opinion on them. Some will think that the lines are the way that the fighters think while others might say that the lines mirror how their lives have been.

Hey, that was the one picture in the reading!

Pretty cool. Taking apart images always gives me headaches because there are just so many possible answers for why the artist drew the line here and not there. It's unbelievable how many points of views one image as simple as squiggly lines can have.

Gotta love art!

Dear Hugo,

After reading your blog I have seen many mistakes that you made when it comes to spelling. For instance, you have either mispelled a word or you are missing a letter. Also, you tend to use the word where in sentences when you are actually trying to use were. I must say that your opening statement is very good and you focus very well on your topic. I believe that you can work on your spelling, but other than that you write a pretty persuasive piece of writing. When you added the picture of the soldiers from the opposite side I believe that it sent out a really good message. If you keep giving us the quotes from the picture and then writing in your own words what it means that can indeed help you a lot. Therefore, I have to say good job.
